MARYLAND DATE SCHEDULE SATISFACTORY Baltimore Md February 15 The distribution of dates for spring racing in Maryland is entirely sat ¬ isfactory to the local tracks and insures a compact circuit and harmonious relations between the Maryland associations The Bowie people are partic ¬ ularly well pleased with the outcome The Southern Maryland track which was opened for the first time last fall encountered strong opposition when it asked for recognition at the hands of the Joc ¬ key Club last season and was compelled to give it first meeting in opposition to Laurel and without a license from the Jockov Club As it now stands Bowie takes the place in eastern racing formerly held by Benning and later by Norfolk it will open and close the season seasonThe The Bowie people have been at work on their plant during the winter building new stables in closing the grandstand in glass and generally put ¬ ting everything in tin shape expected of a lirst class Jockey Club course courseThe The book of conditions which was prepared by Joseph McLennan has been issued Twentysix hun ¬ dred dollars will be given away in purses every dav and for the opening there will be a handicap of SfiGO SfiGOApplications Applications for stabling are coming in so fast that tJie management is being puzzled to find room for all the horses All the big stables of the coun ¬ try with the possible exception of Mr Belmonfs will be represented Joseph McLennan writes from New Orleans that 250 horses will be shipiwd to Bowie from the Crescent City About 171 are now at Bcnning most of which are getting early pre ¬ paration for the Bowie meeting meetingWilliam William Garth arrived at the Washington course tills week with bis big string all of which with the execution of the jumpers are destined for racing at Hie Southern Maryland track Al Weston with some of the Wilson string and Albert Simon witli a division of the Whitney stable have been win ¬ tering lit Norfolk and they will be ready to rae j from the wonl jj °
