A LADYS UNSUCCESSFUL RACING VENTURE Lady horseowners are plentiful in England Some have shown themselves good managers but most have failed badly A case where a liidy did not lind then was money in racing cropped up at tliH London Bankruptcy Court recently It was that of tin Lady Mary Diindas whose liabilities totalled SfiOli and whose assets were returned at 12933 In reply to questions debtor stated she had owned he following race horses Glinka Iwught in July 1M2 fur 24ir and sold in December 1913 lor 300 Roving Star bought in August 112 for 525 and sold a few months afterwards for 100 Lander liought in May 113 for 1470 and sold In January 3114 for 400 Red Fire iKiught in October 19KJ for SOO lint injured and destroyed shortly after ¬ wards She alleged her failure to have been caused mainly through losses in connection with her race horses and to heavy interest on borrowed money Debtor further stated that she had lost about 2730 on a starting gate device which was a device for starting race horses at the various race mentings She financed the inventor nnd provided money for demonstrating the gate but It had not been a suc ¬ cess If It had been successful she would have been entitled to a third share of the profits As a sports ¬ woman who was not afraid to speculate Ladv Marv lleperved better fortune
