SHEEPSHEAD BAY TRACK FINALLY SOLD Famous Old Home of the Thoroughbred to Be Con ¬ verted Into a Monster Motordrome New York April 1 The sale of the Shccpshcad Bay race track has finally IxHn consummated at a total iirlce of 2240000 A cash payment of 200 OOO was made yesterday by tho new Slicopshead Bay Speedway Company to the Coney Island Jockey Club clewing a deal which had bung lire for several months Actual operations toward the new develop inenl of the big race course will begin next Monday A score of workmen will be set to work removing all signs of tin horse to make way for the automobile The track is to lie turned into the worlds greatest automobile course Though the course will be two miles in circumference viiich is a half mile shorter than the one at Indianapolis It will be constructed so as to permit greater speed A good stand de ¬ signed to accommodate 100COO persons will bo built at once The onceThe space Inside the big track is to bu used for other sporting uvcnts football games and other win ¬ ter sports and aviation meets in the summer The slock of the company which is divided into 1000 MX preferred and 1500000 common has been sub ¬ scribed
