DR TYREE HAS SUCCESSFUL DAY DAYTwo Two of Bowies Winners Come from Stiblc of Wash ¬ ington Chemist Track in Good Shape llaltimore Md April 5 The colors of T S Tyrcc of Washington were conspicuously success ¬ ful at liowie this afternoon being borne to victory by King Neptune and Celto The hitters victory was in the Springtime Handicap in a hard drive with Jim Basey and Brave Utmarder The winner was well handled by jockey Lilley The nice was marred by a long delay at the post causal by the fractious ness of Emerald Gem which refused to break when the barrier was sprung King Neptune in winning the opening dash heat some good juveniles Tommy McTaggart had the mount on the winner and it was his first success since his reinstate ¬ ment mentA A large crowd journeyed to the course Save for the feature the horses competing were of medi ¬ ocre calibre The heavy snow storm of Saturday left the track in surprisingly good condition and did much to abate the dust evil that patrons Jiad to contend with on account of the lack of vain vainLarge Large tields went to the post and close and cxcit ing finishes resulted The closest linish of the day attended the running of the second race in which Colors lasted long enough to nose out Toddling The winner remained in doubt until the ollicial plac ¬ ing was displayed displayedJockeys Jockeys T MeTaggart and J Motcalf each scored a double dilring the day the former on King Nep ¬ tune and Henrietta W and Motcalf on Thesieros and Orperth But for taking Kittle Kngland to the outside to receive the benelit of the good going MeTaggart would have made it three as the horse swerved badly allowing Cogs to get through on the inside to win by a short neck neckJohn John Penny a brother of the late Hugh Penny arrived from New York yesterday to complete arrangements for the funeral and interment The body was taken to New York this afternoon Almost every racing man in town visited the mortuary chamber at a local undertakers to pay the last tribute of respect tit the former popular trainer and owntr owntrWoods Woods Garth underwent a successful operation for appendicitis last Friday at his home and is on the road to complete recovery Among recoveryAmong the arrivals today were W R Mioll from Lexington and Frank Bain from New York Both will remain for the rest of the meeting Jockey meetingJockey W Ural was taken sick this morning and was forced to cancel his engagements for this afternoon afternoonW W M Carter this morning sold a couple of twoyearolds Ormes Head going to W P Uurch anil Bethel Hill to J Kelly
