POMMERNS TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS London England pril 8 At the Newmarket First Spring Meeting today the Two Thousand Guineas of 100 soereigns each for threeyearolds was run over the Rowley Mile course Sixteen started and the race was won by Sol Joels bir colt Pommern by Polymelus Merry nes with L Neumanns bay colt Tournament by Spearmint Sirenia second and Lord Carnarvons bay colt The Vizier by Valens Cambrao third Pommera was the post favorite Pommern started in four races as a twoyear old He was unplaced in his first two but de ¬ feated Sarnmiarco Jove and seven more good ones in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood July US Tills he followed in sensational fashion October 0 when he simply ran away from the favorite King Priam in theTich Imneral Produce PInte at Kemp ton Park At the recent Newmarkdt Craven meet ¬ ing he was beaten in the Craven Stakes by the St Frusiiuin colt Rossendale but was carrying 1 ° 2 pounds to 117 on the winner and was obviously backward in condition King Geortres colt Friar Uareus may have started but the presumption is that he was saved for the Epsom Derby else Pomnieru would hardly have been the favorite
