ARRANGING DETAILS IN THE FAR WEST. j — 4 Report That No Objections Will Be Raised to Bet- I ting in Connection with San Francisco Meeting. — i Sail 1 ramisco. CaL, August 2. — Horsemen are lis- I cussing the matter of book making in connection with • the eapositlon races. It is understood that during this one meeting, which begins August 21. there will he no opposition to betting. Some favor what is known as syndicate hooking. Others lielieve that there should be an open ring. Should the syndicate book be decided upon, a man of national reputation will be needed at the head of it. The Golden Gate Thoroughbred Breeders Association, which will pro mote the meeting, insists that the meeting will can-form strictly with the law. Work was began last week in plowing up the Rx-posiiion race track. Secretarj J. . Neawa of the Golden Gate Thoroughbred Breeders Association has wired owners to "come on." and some horses are OB their way from Denver and other points. Secretary Nealon has mailed out the entry blanks for -takes and handicaps, to lose August 10. The list of feature events follows: Exposition Handicap, one mile, ,008 added by . : I V. Ink. Baaalagame of Fresno is anxious to do the same thing, and they will probably make BB the first consignment to reach the exposition track. J. Bandotph wind for eleven stalls from Denver and will start west Immediately. A number of special races have been arraaged for army horses and polo ponies. The Baa Cruaeiaco- alifornia Driving Club staged a number of similar .-vents on its Fourth of July program, and they were exceedingly Interesting, tups will be presented to the winners.
