GREAT RACING EXPECTED AT LAUREL. Baltimore. Mil.. August 25.— Judging by the response that horsemen have already made in entering for tlie different stakes and handicaps which arc to be run at the I.aurel unetiim during the month ol October, ami which close tomorrow, Thursday, August 20. one can take it for granted that the com big meeting should lie the greatest from any angle looked at in the history of this popular racing orgaaiaatioB. It is bur nauiral that such should be the case. If the seventeen features scheduled, each ami every one of which are of ihe money -added variety, the si, m total of the money added to the nominations and starting is 5,000. Thongh this, in a sense, will act as a magnet to attract the better Classes ot horses, ample provision will he made for all ■ hisses, the program of the meeting being made mi with the idea in view that equitable conditions should prevail, to the end thai high class racing will be the natural outcome. Throughout the summer months the plant has been under repair where needed, and though the c ,nr-e lias underwent a remarkable change lor the better under the present management, visitors will note several improvements that have lately taken place, all done with the idea of providing comfort for the patrons of the snort. Tin- I.aurel course has the distinction of containl ing the greatest and most complete pari-unituel plant in this country, and one that has given such satisfaction to the patrons of racing, that It would be no cause tor surprise if the management were toned to enlarge it in another year. There are many turfmen wha believe that the question of the championship of the juvenile division, or "Men in tbe all aged division, will not b, definitely settled until the I.attre-1 meeting is in lull swing. Thtv point to the fact that the Pn turitv will find many Sf the two year-old stars absent, for one reason or another, ami as the en tries p. the I.aurel two -year-old stakes contain the names of the greater nuinlicr of these cracks, the meeting is hound to take on an added interest.
