NOTES OF THE TURF FROM OTHER LANDS. I»rd Derby has been elected vice-president of • the Race Horse Owners anil Breeders Association. The well-known jockey, W. Huxley, has accepted , an engagement to ride iu India and is ou his way to that distant land. Mac, which was purchased privately from Lady Torringtou by V. Mumford. and was recently shipped en route for India, died during the voyage from pneumonia. The stewards of the Turf Club. Dublin. Ireland, have decided on holding an extra meeting at Tne ■ Curragh on November Hi and 17. The Powerstown Park iClonmell executive have been granted permission to hold a meeting on October 2*. the profits I of which will be devoted to the fund being raised in aid of soldiers of the Royal Irish Regiment who are prisoners of war in Germany. Corporal O. Pratt of the Royal Bucks Hussars, sou of Mr. F. I. Pratt of Cheltenham, and a nephew of the famous jockey. Fred Archer, is re|Ktrted missing in the fighting in the Dardanelles. He was at one time well known as a jockey, and was a trainer in France at the commencement of the war. He joined his regiment soon after the commencement of hostilities. He has a brother serving in the same regiment. In West Australia the double event of Hannans Handicap and Kalgoorlie Cup has been carried off for the second time in three years. In 1913 Chief Secretary won both events, aud now his example lias been copied by Mistico. a four-year-old colt by iiu|K rted Linacri — Grey Mist, which started favorite for both races. I.inacrc is by Wolfs Crag — Ijsmaine. and was sent out to Australia from England iu 190H. As a three-year-old he Won several good races for Messrs. L. Robinson and W. Clark.
