ADHERING TO SELLING HANDICAP IDEA. Baltimore. Md., October 10. — In its stake book for the fall meeting to Ix-gin at Pimlico. Noveinlier I. the Maryland Jockey Club calls attention to its plan for .linking the conditions of selling races more •ipiilable than has been the custom. Tbe lielief is expressed that no conditions can be framed which will bring horses together on fairer terms than tlmse of a handicap conscientiously made. The notice continues: "Acting upon this lielief. the Maryland Jockey Club has. so far as is possible, eliminated from its hooks those forms of selling races which have given opportunity for some persons, by reason of their greater wealth, influence or other advantages, to saeeaaaMljj violate the correct principles governing such races, and in lien thereof offers Its patrons a variety of -free selling handicaps which it is hoped will atlord eipiality of opportunity to all and special ad van; ages to none. "These free handicaps will close and the weights will Im- published free of charge or obligation on tlie part of those entering them up to the time fixed by their renditions for declaration. Entries not then declared will each assume a liability of $."» to Im-paid t" the winner." The usual conditions as to scratching will ap| l.v. The program outlined in the stake book is a good one. with a steeplechase carded for nearly every day. The two new barns erected since the spring meeting are among the most important improvements noticoalile at Pimlico. They are situated iu the r«-ar of the grandstand, between the si aides usually occupied bv Capt. E. B. Cassatt and R. T. Wilson, president of the Saratoga Association, ami will accommodate twenty-eight horses each. A new boiler rasas, furnishing an ample supply of hot water, is near bv, and a hydrant is located convenient to both stables. The string of II. J- Mackenzie, of Canada, in charge of trainer Jack Adkius. has been assigned to one of the new stables. The Mackenzie racers are making their first appearance at Pimlic ■ . and com prise siieh Mad performers as Buckhorn. Leo Skolny. Sea Shell San Vega and Helen Barliee. Near by. Or .1. s Tvrecs runners, twelve in all. handled by Or. It. it. Larrick. will be located. H- C Hallenbeck. owner of The Finn. Iron Ouke and other much talked-of thoroughbreds, has reserved stalls at PiinPco for the first time in years. W. II. Karrick has twelve belonging to II. K. Kuapp , and S. I.. The great four vcor old Roainor. owned by Andrew Miller, will he located with the hor es of A. J. Goiiishor.iugh. who Is expected to bring twelve or thirteen bead to Pimlico.
