The latter set a great pace and only succumbed right at the end. G. W. KISKER raced forwardly and gamely throughout. MARSAND was caught in a jam on the far turn and completely knocked out of his stride. HEARTHSTONE made up ground. VEL1E FORTY ran well to the stretch. The winner was entered for 00: no bid. DAVE MONTGOMERY came from the rear in the last quarter into a game third. PENALTY made up ground. DR. DOUGHERTY raced well up for the first three-quarters. FANCY showed speed, but quit.
