FRESH TURF GOSSIP FROM HAVANA. Havana, Cuba. Dceeniber ;. — Martin Nathanson, associate judge and handicapper of the Havana race meeting to open at Oriental Park December 10. lias arrived and assumed his duties at once. Mr. Na-thansou has compiled a list of all the horses in training at the Culian track, and this list, with those horses arriving from Maryland, indicate the preseme here by December 10 of more than 400 horses. Other officials already at the track and busy with preliminary work are Frank J. Brueu, Harry Brown. Jr.. and Ceorge Dillon. The twenty-six horses in the stable of H. G. Bed-well at Oriental Park are all doing finely. Mr. Bed-well says none of his horses is sick and he has not heard of a sick horse at the Havana track. G. W. J. Bissell. of Pittsburgh, who has l»een here for several days, will spend the holidays with M i family in the States and will return here soon after January 1. Mr. Bissell has twelve horses , „■ c in tlie hands of trainer Jim Gass. a W. C. Westmoreland is one of the early arrivals r.nm Maryland. He has Skeets, Stubborn and Iftizzl at the Havana track and he will have charge of several other horses for owners who will arrive within a few days. Ivcgan Denny, who has three of his own horses here and who will train the nine horses in the staide of G. H. Keene. expresses himself as being much pleased with Cuba, the climate, the people and .the local race track. Jockey J. Smyth will do the riding for the Bed-well staide here. Steward C. H. Lansdale has l een at Key West several days looking after the wants of the horsemen who are shipping by way of that point to Havana. Mr. Lansdale will remain at Key West until a couple of days before the opening. W. C. West shipped three horses here from Sacramento. Cal., and he says as a winter racing point Havana looks good indeed. He has Zoroaster, Conflagration and Stelcliff. J. O. Burttschell is at Oriental Park with Kopje and Crisco. It. B. Stelle, arriving from Maryland this week, has several horses in training at the Havana track. Mr. Stelle was one of the most successful operators here last season.
