RENO MAY HAVE TWO MEETINGS. San Francisco. Cal., February 10. — J. A. Bcfcaan. manager of the Reno race track, is in San Francisco to get a line on the racing situation. He was in conference with James C. Nealon. secretary of the Golden Gate Thoroughbred Breeders Association, to ascertain1 what the local turfmen were going to do this season in the way of promoting racing. Nealon answered that the association was awaiting the return of President Charles W. Clark from the east liefore deciding if a meeting woahl be programmed at the exposition or Tanforan track in August or September. Sehasa thought that possibly the local association would consider putting on a meeting this month to keep the horsemen at present at Tijuana busy while the lx wer California track was being repaired. This plan could not be carried through. Nealon • . plained, because of the shortness of time. The visiting turfman declared that Reno wa* : ing to be active this season in staging racing. : li meeting held last summer was so successful under the jurisdiction of the Nevada Racing Commission that it has encouraged the promoters in giving race on a larger scale. It is passable that two meetings each, of two weeks duration, would be on The card. Just when they will be held is indefinite. Reno is counting ou attracting many of the horses campaigning at Tijuana, and it is not known at this time when the meeting in Lower California will be resumed. If the track can be reopened tin-latter p; rt of March, as President Coffroth confidently expects. Reno will follow immediately after. making the opening probably in July. It is probable that another meeting would be staged late in the fall.
