WIDELY KNOWN TURFMAN PASSES AWAY. Lexington. Ky.. April 4. — Turfmen and clubmen in the blue grass region today heard with expressions of regret that Colonel Robert T. Holloway had died in Washington this morning of acute indigestion. Colenel Holloway was accompanying his youngest daughter. Roberta, on her return to Vassar college at Ioughkeepsie, N. Y. They left Lexing-t"ii at noon yesterday. Tonight his eldest daughter. Anna, accompanied by Catesby Woodford, her fathers most intimate friend, left for Washington to bring the remains to Lexington. Colonel Holloway was til years old and was born in Richmond. Ky. He l»-gan life as a clerk in his fathers dry goods store in Lexington. In 1886 he opened i pool room here and during the dozen v is of its sn ei ssful opt ration he am issd a fortune, which he iiad increased by judicious investments. For many years Colonel Holloway maintained a racing stable which was composed of good horses trained by the late James Murphy. Among the liest to carry his olors were Wadsworth. Faraday. Teuton and Pocahontas. He was a true sportsman, fond of fishing and hunting, and had spent the past winter iu Florida, using his rod and gun with great skill.
