I v I I a K j! J t t i I i i : 1 t ! i : I SURPRISES COME AT HAVRE DE GRACE. Daddys Choice Furnishes One. by Beating Flitter-gold in the Days Chief Race. Baltimore, Mil., September 14. Daddys Choice, which has been showing improved form of late, defeated Flittcigold today in the feature race at Havre de Grace, an all-aged handicap at one mile and seventy yards, by a narrow margin. Flitter-golds defeat was undoubtedly brought about by his being bumped by Sangallo while going to the first turn and, together with Ambroses slovenly finish through the final fifty yards. Sangallo set the pure to tile stretch turn, with Flittergold and Air Man in pursuit and Daddys Choice last. Flittergold raced up to Sangallo on the outside, took the lead in the stretch and appeared a certain winner, but Ambrose evidently did not see Daddys Choice coming through on the inside ami was forced to go from an easy liand-ride to a desperate drive in the closing strides, but Daddys Choice was first by a head. The racing was marked by the defeat of several well-backed horses. Little Dipper started olf by winning from Shoddy. The defeat of Kilts by Muuuchcn in the second was also a surprise and the victories of Daddys Choice and Scylla followed. Jockey J. Metcalf was suspended for six days by the stewards for crossing Flittergold while astride Sangallo in the fourth race. It occured while Sangallo was going to tin? first turn slightly in advance of Flittergold. The weather was warmer today than on any previous day of tin meeting, but the attendance was of goodly size ami speculation brisk. Christopher Fitz Gerald returned from Syracuse this morning. He expressed himself as being well pleased with tin showing made by the half-bred horses he judged at tin state fair. .1. J. Farrell. Jr.. has purchased Polonium from U. T.
