4. SPLUTTER THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RACER IN THE 1916 STABLE OF J. S. HENDRIE A : 4 Led by the four-year-old gelding Splutter, by Martimas Splash, the .7. S. Hendrie stable won .0,005 this year, as against 4,050 last year, although his colors Hashed first past the finishing line once oftener than they had in 1015. Last year lie was twenty-seventh in the ranking of winning owners, but this year falls considerably below that mark, due in part to the fact that the leading winners have generally larger amounts to their credit than last year. Splutter was unplaced but three times in his twelve starts of the year, winning five times. Of these victories the most profitable was one of his early starts, when he captured the William Hendrie Memorial Handicap in a held of Canadian-foaled competitors.
