OPENING AT JUAREZ WELL ATTENDED El Paso, Texas, November 30. Today marked the opening of the eighth successive season of the Jockey Club Juarez, and the ardent sport-loving public of this vicinity turned out in great numbers to do homage to king horse. Although there were several big attractions going on in El Paso, it did liot keep the crowd from attending their favorite winter pastime. The public had the first taste of betting in the nintuel machine, and the majority of Ihem became quick and adept at the method, as the amount wagered for the opening day was far above expectations. The weather was perfect and there were close to 5,000 persons on the grounds. The five and a half furlongs sprint, that was rim as the fourth race, was contested by the best field of the day, from the standpoint of class, and resulted in an easy victory for Hocnir, coupled with Joe Blair as the K. Spence entry. Oldsmobile,- an outsider in ; the betting, accounted for the opening dash in easy fashion. Thq second race provided a good finish between AVaremore and Lytle, with Sybil, the second choice, close up. Trappoid, from the stable of J. ITmensetter, made a show of her opposition in the third race. Keeping well up in the early running, she was only cantering at the end.
