BIG NOMINATORS TO SARATOGA STAKES. New York. December 1. Among the late receipts of entries to the Saratoga Stakes, were those of James Butler, who has tied the record of A. K. Macomber with entries for the Hopeful, and who also crowds the California turfman in the entries for the United States and Grand Union Hotel I Stakes. In the Spinaway, for fillies, Mr. Butler passes Mr. Macomber with ten entries to the Californians nine, but in this event he does not head the list, for John 13. Madden has come through with eleven nominations for the rich filly stakes. The most l.beral nominators have been Messrs. Macomber, Butler and the Wicklif fe Stable. Stables never before represented in these future events are now down on the list of entries for Saratoga next year. Mr. Butler evidently thinks well of his big crop of yearlings from the sires of John K. Madden, for sens and daughters of Star Shoot, leading American sire, are in predominance. In the United States Hotel Stakes, Mr. Butler has entered eleven Star Shoots, one Superman and two of Celts get. In the Grand Union he has seven Star Shoots, three Celts, two by King James, one by Superman and one by Whisk Broom II. In the entries he has made for the Hopeful are, eight Star Shoots, with three by Celt, two by King James, two by Superman, one by Ogden, one by Celt and one by Whisk Broom II. Mr. Madden holds the record for entry of fillies in tiic Spinaway, he having named eleven for this event. The master of Hamburg Place also has favored the Hopeful Stakes with seven entries, all of his own breeding, while in the United States Hotel and the Grand Union he lias five entries for each. Among the entries received on tiic closing days were those of the August Belmont stable. The chairman of The Jockey Club has named eight for the Hopeful, six for the Spinaway and five for both the United States Hotel and Grand Union Hotel Stakes. The Kentucky breeders and owners have been liberal with their entries,, most of which were received on the final day.
