LIVINGSTON HORSES AT NEW ORLEANS. New Orleans, La., December 11. Local race-goers will have an opportunity next winter for the first time to see the colors of Jefferson Livingston flash past the post at the Fair Grounds. Livingston is the owner of one of the largest racing stables in the United States and Canada. There is not a yearling in the Livingston barn, the youngsters having been left at Douglas Park, Louisville, to be broken. He has thirty-seven yearlings at Louisville, thirty-four of which are imported, and also lias thirty weanlings in England, which will be shipped to tills country next summer. Today Mr. Livingston has in the neighborhood of 00,000 invested in thoroughbreds that are ready to race, and he still stands ready to buy any good horse that is on the market. One of the first horses that he bought was that famous sprinter, Iron Mask, holder of two American records, and considered by turfmen one of the fastest horses seen in recent years. At the Juarez track on Marcli 8, 1914, Iron Mask, picking up 150 pounds, ran five and one-half furlongs in 1:03, a new American record which stands today, and it is doubtful if it ever will be equalled by a horse carrying the weight that the son of Disguise did that day. When Iron Mask established the American record of 1:09 for three-quarters of a mile at Juarez on January 4, 1914, he carried 115 pounds, and defeated the speedy mare, Pan Zareta, which is now stabled at the Fair Grounds. It is the intention of Mr. Livingston to spend the major portion of the winter here, and with that object in view, he has already reserved quarters at one of the leading hotels. Here are the horses that will carry the Livingston colors next winter: Three-vear-olds of 1917 Bullion, Ben Hampson, Matin, Diamond and The Baroness. Four-year-olds Colonel Vennie, Prince of Como, Jack ODowd, Mandy Hamilton, Sansyming, retlar, Solid Rock and Julia L. Five-year-olds and over Royal II., White Crown, Syrian, Kris Kringle, Othello, Aldebaran, Soslus, Cash on Delivery and Ed Howard. The jockeys are Urquhart and Cott, with the probability of Metcalf also being secured.
