ADDITIONAL ARRIVALS AT HAVANA Big Shipment from Bowie Reaches Oriental Park Shooting Stair Dies En Route. Havana. Cuba. December 13. Fine weather attracted a big attendance to Oriental Park this afternoon. The track was fast. the. racing closely contested and well-backed horses scored in a majority of the races. Mirny newcomers from the states were seen at the track today and their presence was reflected in the Increased speculation iu the xoks and inutuels.- Maraurier won the oeniug dash in good style. He caught and passed the tiring lender. St. 3lar-guerite, in the stretch and was drawing away at the end. St. Marguerite set a fast pace, but tired badly. Miss Gove. was a game contender from start to finish. The secoud race resulted in a close and interest-in? contest. Luver Bey winning after disusing of Dignity, which had set the pace, but tired when challenged by the ultimate winner. Kay Spence saddled another winner, when his Ivan the Terrible gelding High Gear, held in high regard by the public, scored an easy victory in the third race. High Sear was saved from the fast early pace and. after Now Then and Brookfield tired from their early efforts, came through on the inside and drew clear in the final drive. K. D. Williams; old Irish Lad gelding. Zlnu experienced little "trouble winning over a fair band of platers In the fourth race. Norvic suffered from a poor ride at the hands of -C, Hunt, who took him wide on the far turn and could not straighten hint out until too late. Jockey J. Howard cut across the field at the start of the fourth race with Zim, for which he was set down for ten days. There were many arrivals today. Among them were jockeys McCrann. Wessler, Grand and Bull and the stables owned by G. It. Bryson, W. F. .Martin, J. A. Strode. J. C; Albright.- W. C. Caywood, J. Sonnett, J. L. Donovan. A. I.zamn. H. Lnnsford, under contract to Kay Spence, rode bis first winner today at Oriental Park. Lunsforri began riding at Juarez early in Hie present year. J. Wessler was another newcomer seen in the saddle today. Jockey It. McCrann Is one of the latest additions to the jockey colony, having his first mount today. Shooting Star, the good Star Shoot gelding owned by the Cuban, A.Leaama, died en route bore. There were forty-seven horses included in the latest shipment,. E. K. Brysous two-year-old Gyp, died bore today after being unloaded from the cars,., j
