TURF GOSSIP FROM LOUISVILLE TRACKS Louisville Ky January 2 Itod Patterson who is in charge of the horses belonging to the Keystone Stable now in winter quarters at Doug ¬ las Park took occasion today to deny tiie report published recently that his brother C T Patter ¬ son had signed a contract to train for the stable of W It Coe the wealthy New York sportsman lie declared there was no truth in the story and that his brother had no intention of accepting tiie position The horses belonging to the Coe stable Mr Patterson declared have been turned over to W H Karrick who for many veals trained for Hitchcock and the late Schuyler L Parsons Jerry Carroll who had been in charge of the stable has been retained to look after the stables jumpers jumpersAccording According to Thomas Murphy trainer for A K Macomber who has just returned from his home in Brooklyn where he went to spend Christmas the owners of the Gravesend track have served notice on all horsemen wintering their strings there that after the first of the year stall rent will bu increased from 2 to 81 per mouth No reason is vouchsafed for this big increase and naturally horsemen are much incensed over what they believe is altogether unwarranted About 400 horses will be affected by the increase Itacing over the Gravesend track was discontinued some years ago and the old course is now used as winter training quarters quartersThe The four yearlings belonging to W W Darden that have been quartered at Churchill Downs in care of W H Louden have been transferred to the Darden farm near Nashville Tenn They are all by Ivan the Terrible and are a most promising looking band
