standard for patronage and it bvcomes more and more evident with each pass jng day that racing is now so well established as Jim of the foremost sports of the Cubans that it would entirely practicable to conduct a meeting if considerable duration here without any outside issistanci in the way of patronage except that incidental to the presence of the necessary horse mon The foremost residents of Cuba have taken up racing as a pastime with the enthusiasm that jponplu of their race display over anything in which they become genuinely interested and this is a happy augury for the future of the sport in Cuba The president of the republic members of his cab ¬ inet most of the foreign diplomats accredited to Cuba and the leaders of Cuban finance and society have ill placed the stamp of their approval on the sport by their presence not only on special occa ¬ sions but in most instances frequently thus at ¬ testing their real interest in the racing racingGeneral General Manager Brown and the executives in charge of the various departments of the sjiort sire doing their part to make the racing as attrac ¬ tive as possible It may be asserted without fear of contradiction that nowhere
