RACING DATES FOR LEXINGTON Kentucky Association May Ask State Racing Com ¬ mission for Fifteen Days for Spring Meeting Lexington Ky March i Indications are that Lexington will have fifteen days of racing this coming spring if the wishes of the Kentucky As ¬ sociation officials sire approved by the State Rae iug Commission when the dsites for the Ken ¬ tucky tracks sire allotted this month monthAVhile AVhile the Lexington racing officials have not made si formal request to the commission for dsites the time most favored by then and a majority of the horsemen whose stables will participate for the beginning of the spring races here which will open the 1918 rsicing season in Kentucky is April 125 or 127 preferably the latter date which falls on Ssitnrday SsitnrdayIn In this event it is probable thirteen days will be asked for by the Lexington track extending tin meeting up to sind including May 11 thus making three Saturdays which usually have the heaviest attendance attendanceShould Should April 125 which is Thursday bo decided on for the opening it is probable fifteen days will be asked for still allowing for three Saturdays sind giving the horsemen ample time to get to Louis ¬ ville for the opening of the meeting at Churchill Downs when the historic Kentucky Derby is staged stagedIt It is understood here that the meeting at the Downs will open either Saturday May 11 or Tues ¬ day May 14 14The The Lexington racing officials are expecting a banner meeting sit the local trsick this coming spring and will meet in the next few dsiys to for ¬ mulate their request for dates to the Stsite Racing Commission which is expected to meet soon sifter March 15 and allot dates for all Kentucky tracks
