YEARLING COLT SELLS FOR 15600 Svritch by Sweeper Zuna Brings EC cord Sum at the Saratoga Sales SalesSaratoga Saratoga X Y August 9 Oust when most of the critics and breeders were ready to proclaim that the sale of youngsters held last night at the Fasig Tiptou mart at best an ordinary affair an element of encouragement was given the breeders by the extraordinary high price that Switch in Mrs II 15 Dnrycas consignment brought The colt a sou of Sweeper Znna and a lialfbrotlier to Sioux Chippewa Red Sox and Danficld went to Mrs Walter M Jeffords for 15GOO u record sum in some time after spirited bidding competition from Dr McCulIy who was acting for 1 A Clark The latter retired after his bid of 15500 Previously the bidding on the colt had been general but gradu ¬ ally the contenders dropped out before the 10COO figure was reached reachedMrs Mrs Jeffords seemingly would have gone higher to secure the youngster and plainly indicated that she was determined to get him The colt was the last one to be led into the ring and his presence at once caused a general rousing of the heretofore slow bidding crowd Originally the colt had been cata ¬ logued as being named Caujjhnanaga II but it was announced before his sale that permission had been granted to its change to Switch SwitchThere There was a big attendance to witness the sale of the youngsters which consisted of the French bred colts and fillies owned by Clarence U Mackay and Mrs II B Duryea from their famous establish ¬ ments in Normandy France FranceT T M Murphy former owner of the Waldeck Farm at Crestwood near Louisville Ky also sent a consignment of fifteen but eight of the band failed to draw a bid and were passed out The re ¬ maining seven went for a total of 1775 witli the Golden Maxim Mary Bodine filly
