NO WINTER RACING FOR ROSS STABLE STABLESaratoga Saratoga N Y August 21 It has IH OII decided that the horses of Commander J K L Ross will all go into winter quarters at the close of the Mary ¬ land racing season Last winter a division of the stable was raced at New Orleans and Hot Springs but this coining season the stable will not be repre ¬ sented at any of the winter tracks unless present plans changedGreen are changed Green B Morris who probably is the oldest train ¬ er of the racing thoroughbred in America and Judge C II Pettingill who enjoys a similar distinction among racing officials met a day or two ago in the openair paddock at the Saratoga race track one of the glories of which is the magnificence of the sheltering trees treesJudge Judge remarked the veteran trainer these trees have grown some since we Hrst came to Sara ¬ toga togaYes Yes rejoined Judge Pettingill we can both remember when most of them were nothing but saplings Judge Pettingill has been an annual visitor here since 1871 while Mr Morris has been coming here since 1875 1875Jefferson Jefferson Livingston has added two more thor ¬ oughbreds to the string he will send south His purchases are Larry B and a yearling colt by Mara ¬ thon Foxy Mary
