LATEST TURF GOSSIP FROM SARATOGA G6oUrCoir f Whims Brighton Stable to Go to Belmont Park By Ed Cole ColeSaratoga Saratoga N Y August 28 Routledge the win ¬ ner of the Adirondack Handicap is a colt of whims Mr Daly his owner gave him up as an impossibil ¬ ity long ago though he can boat Star Hampton in his work He can beat Star Hampton in the morning as far as one can throw a rock said Mr Daly but he will not run to it in races If ever a horse ruined me Routledge has I suppose he took a notion to run today just at a time when least expected like all sucker horses do Max doMax Hirsch wagered a goodly sum on Dayduu yesterday and little or nothing today He came out of yesterdays race with a slight colic said his trainer I knew he illil not run his race and for that reason I sent him out again today just to find out what the trouble was He must have had a slight stomach ailment wliicli made him run so poorly poorlyGeorge George Odom the trainer of the Brighton Stable will ship his horses to Belmont Park on Friday W FridayW Murray the redcoated pioneer of the parad ¬ ing horses at Saratoga has been engaged to do the same work at Belmont Park ParkR R T Wilsons colt Hannibal broke loose from his stable this morning and galloped around for a while but his trainer Thomas Healey did not think him sufficiently distressed to withdraw him from the Adirondack Handicap If he is not injured internally said Mr Healey before the running I dont think it will bother him much Major muchMajor Tom McDowell has just received a letter from his son Good loo who has been at the front since last January Iirt of his letter reads On Decoration day my battalion jnmiied into the fight and we gave the Huns a wonderful show It was out of the greatest incidents in my lift md i would not have missed it for anything in the world I dont know where he is just now said his father but wherever lie is I know that the Ameri ¬ can spirit is there with him
