COLIN YEARLING A SPEED WONDER Lexington Ky Septeml er 14 Jesse Spencer appears to have struck oil when he paid 550 for the yearling bay filly Talisman by Colin Pocket piece bv Hanover at the dispersal of the Wick liffe Stud here last January Talisman is credited with an eighth of a mile in 10 seconds over the Kentucky Association track last week and she is said by horsemen who have observed her to be tlie fleetest runner that has been seen in this section of the country in many years It seems that the mating of the dam of Old Coin Myrtle Marion Good Luck For Luck Pennyrock and Pough keepsie with this unbeaten son of Commando and Pastorella by Springfield was a proper nick and it shouldnt be surprising if Talisman is a rac ¬ ing sensation in 1919 One day last spring when Edward Beal McLean owner of Colin was visiting in the Blue Grass State he inquired of Jack Keener What do you think of the future of Colin as a sireV Colin replied Keene without hesi ¬ tation was a fast and great race horse and I havent anr doubt that some day he will reproduce himself Then when the essential blood strain is found lie will produce himself many times over when mares of that particular strain are sent to his court Perhaps it will be found that the daughters of Hanover now quite few and the granddaughters of that wonderful race horse and sire are best suited for the fleetest son of Coii mando
