NEW ORLEANS RACING IS ASSURED Winter Season Will Likely Open at Jefferson Park Thanksgiving Day Fair Grounds January 1 1New New Orleans Ln September 27 There will be no interruption in the plans of the Business Mens Kacing Association and the Jefferson Parish Fair Association for their respective winter race meet ¬ ings as a result of the nrotost made against racing by Charles Weinberger a local reformer reformerPresident President John T Ponder of the Business Mens Racing Association said instruction had gone out to bring only the highest class horsemen and horses to New Orleans and that all indications pointed to the finest nicing meeting in the history of the turf in Nov Orleans OrleansPresident President Leo A Marrero of the Jefferson Park Association said no fear was felt that the govern ¬ ment would request a discontinuance of the sport considering how splendid the big racing meetings of the east and north have proved He said the Jef ¬ ferson association had made elaborate arrangements for a splendid meeting meetingThough Though dates have not been definitely announced it is generally understood Jefferson Park will open Thanksgiving day and continue until Dfcemlwr 31 the Fair Grounds to open New Years day anil run for a period of fiftyseven days Keliable informa ¬ tion is to the effect there will be no fight over dates between the two associations
