S C HILDRETH TO RACE IN MARYLAND Flans Active Campaign at Laurel and Pimlico with Quito a Pretentious Static ISaltimore Md October 2 Ever since the sale of the yearlings of Major August Belmonts Nursery Stud at Saratoga in August when it was definitely settled that Major Belmont was not to go in for racing next year as extensively as he had in the past he being too much occupied with war work S C Ilildreth Mr Bclmonts trainer has ben Collecting a stable for campaigning in his own in ¬ terests From Mr Bclmont he has piirchased that redoubtable gelding Stromboli which in spite of a bowed tendon Ilildreth has Inen able to bring back o the races to win at his first attempt and re ¬ cently secured the crack Purchase and Lucullite the juvenile hero of the early part of the year of 1917 also Alibi and two or three others He had Snnfbisli rnd Deckmate already and he has ac luired Smart Money Wise Man Poacher Lord Brighton and Kegal Lodsre and two or three other tinners of less renown in other iiarters iiartersHaving Having nothing of Major BelmoiHs to engage his attention about New York he has no intention of remaining at Jamaica and Yonkcrs but has planned for an active campaign here at Laurel and Pimlico Hihlretli is one of the most lilicral nominators in the Laurel stakes He has Alibi Poacher Kegal Lodge Stromboli and Lueiillite in the Washington Baltimore and National Handicaps and all of thes horses save Poacher in the Dixie Laurel Parks mile and a quarter race for threeyearolds and over With Lord Brighton which he taught at the George Smith sale a few minutes before he obtained Purchase Ilildreth taught the engagements of those twoyearolds in the Maryland and Potomac Handicaps specialsIlildreth and other juvenile specials Ilildreth may enter Purchase in the special race being arranged to bring together IHIly Kelly and Eternal Altogether Ilildreth has about twenty horses available for racing here and will probably be heard from before the meeting has progressed much further
