BRISK CHURCHILL DOWNS CONTESTS Last Coin Is Still Unbeaten Freecutter Defeats Herald and Night Wind Easily Louisville Ky October 2 Last Coin continued his winning ways and added another victory to his score this afternoon when he accounted for the purse in the sprint at threequarters which brought to the post it good band He displayed a high order of speed from the start and with the exception o a brief period in the stretch when Marie Miller was pressing him hard was never seriously in danger of defeat Marie Miller gave up the struggle when a sixteenth from the finish and Last Coin came away to win Marie Millers showing con ¬ sidering that it was her first start in some time was a good one and she looms up promisingly as a factor in future sprints George J Longs Ocean Sweep landed in third place but it was by the closest of margins marginsFreecutter Freecutter which since his return from Sara ¬ toga where he was a pronounced disappointment has foneii showing excellent form again scored this afternoon when he outstayed Herald in the mile nurse and won easily Herald beating Night Wind for second place The start found Freecutter some ¬ what unprepared and he was a distant follower but he gained rapidly after settling fully in his stride and overhauled Herald just as they rounded into the stretch In the brief drive that followed Freecutter had it his own way Night Wind never fully settled down and raced awkwardly through ¬ out He probably requires a stronger rider riderThe The sixth race brought out Colonel Livingston and Col Taylor in a renewal of their Breeders Futurity struggle but this time Col Taylor showed vast superiority and emphasized that Colonel Liv ¬ ingstons Futurity win was of the flukiest kind He was kept straight this afternoon and main ¬ tained a fast pace from the start winning with utmost ease Colonel Livingston followed the win ¬ ner closely for threeeighths but thereafter he was thoroughly done doneLimit Limit fields started in four of the races and they proved a difficult problem for most of the specula ¬ tors but close finishes developed with their run ¬ ning ningWilliams Williams Bros this morning added John W Klein and Frank Burke to their string buying the pair at private terms from John W Schorr SchorrTodays Todays attendance was again of generous siza and betting of good amount Weather and track conditions were of the best and the speculators enjoyed their outing outingMany Many owners who do not contemplate starting any of their horses on the closng days here have arranged to ship to Latonia and several will depart tomorrow Track Superintendent Larry Rogen schutz was kept busy during the afternoon in as ¬ signing stable space to the many here who will take part in the Latonia racing racingAfter After probing into the causes that led to jockey Smith belaboring Simpson with his whip in the sixth race yesterday the stewards suspended Simp ¬ son for ten days and fined Smith 25 Simpson was charged by Smith with interference to Madgu F and it was directly responsible for her defeat as had she been allowed to go on about her busi ¬ ness she would have been an easy first firstWith With a view to equity to those owners who had engaged Simpson on mounts today the offending rider was ermitted to fill his engagements His removal from the saddle on tho four mounts he had today would hav caused some hardship on borsjemen and confusion in getting other reasonably satisfactory riders Simpson can regard himself as lucky to escape with a ten days suspension and a repetition of the offense mijIit result in a revocation of his Ikeuse
