AN ALIBI FOR GAINSBOROUGH After his defeat by Prince Chima Gainsborough was found to have a temperature not a high one but sufficient to indicate trouble Mr Livock was called in and has been attending the colt ever since He has advised Lady James Douglas and Alec Taylor that GainslMirough had better not run again this year and 1 understand that this advice will be followed It is satisfac ¬ tory to know for certain that Gainsboroughs defeat is thus fully accounted for though the trouble is in no way serious It needs but a slight illness to bring alxmt a threequarterlength defeat in a mile and threequarter nice Now that My Dear has exactly confirmed the St Lcger running with I rince Chimay we can measure exactly how far Gainsborough was short of his true form when Prince Chimay finished in front of him London Sportsman r
