GREAT DAYS ENGLISH FISHING Frank Anderson of Heyhridge near Maldon Essex England made an extraordinary catch November 9 in the floodgate hole at Baddow Mill landing with a single rod and single handed in fourteen hours over 330 pounds of bream the fish varying in weight from six pounds to one pound The largest measured from snout to tail twentytwo and three quarter inches The shoal of bream in the hole has been a matter of remark throughout the summer but the men at the mill believe Mr Anderson must have taken every one Singularly enough some friends of the owner had fished in the hole for three days with indifferent success but Mr Anderson thinks they must have fed the fish too liberally with ground bait and he found them just coming on feed again The weather was all against angling a northeast wind blowing tremendously hard This is the largest quantity Mr Anderson has taken in a river on one occasion his previous best record being 234 pounds in 18SO He kindly distributed the fisli among the poor men at Messrs Bentalls works so enabling nearly all of them to enjoy a cheap fish dinner
