LEXINGTON STAKE VALUES INCREASED Order of Running and List of Fixtures to Be Hun at Kentucky Association Course Next Spring LEXINGTON Ky December 14 The directors of the Kentucky Association in adopting the recom ¬ mendations of General Manager Robert L Baker today took a forward stey for tlie betterment of the thoroughbred horse industry and the improvement of tlie sport of racing racingHis His first recommendation was that tlie following stakes be given during the thirteen days of the 1919 spring meeting opening April 24 and closing May 8 8Hinata Hinata Stakes 2000 added and troyhy donated by Mrs Clarence Le Bus for twoyearold fillies four and a half furlongs to be run Saturday April 20 20Ashland Ashland Oaks 2000 added and trophy donated by Thomas C McDowell for three yearold fillies oie liiiltrj t f e run Tuesday April 29 29Ben Ben Ali Handicap 2000 added and trophy do ¬ nated by Lieut Louis Lee Haggin for threeyear olds and over one and onesixteenth miles to be run Thursday May 1 1Blue Blue Grass Stakes 2500 added and trophy do ¬ nated by the Kentucky Association for threeyear olds one mile and an eighth to be run Saturday May 3 3Idle Idle Hour Stakes 2000 added and trophy do ¬ nated by K It Bradley for twoyearold colts and geldings four and a half furlongs to be run Thurs ¬ day May 5 5Camden Camden Handicap 2000 added and trophy do ¬ nated by J N Camden for threeyearolds and over one and onequarter miles to be run Thurs ¬ day May S SThis This schedule of stakes marks tlie reinstatement of the Blue Grass Stakes which was last run in 1914 and it further marks an increase in the added money to all stakes by 500 each eachThe The second recommendation was that purses aver ¬ age 800 exclusive of stakes and that on days on which no stake is to be decided there be a feature to which 1000 will be added One of thcsa features will be the Phoenix Hotel Handicap to which the Phoenix Hotel adds a trophy trophyGeneral General manager Bakers third recommendation was that 5000 instead of 2500 be added to the Breeders Futurity for 1921 entries to which will close July 1 1919 1919Following Following the meeting of the Kentucky Asso ¬ ciation directors general manager Baker gave a dinner at the Phoenix Hotel at which he had tlie following guests Messrs J N Camden Catesby Woodford G D Wilson Thomas A Combs J O Keene Wallace Muir T B Cromwell W F Klair S S Combs Tallies W McClelland Phil T Cliinn James P Ross John B McLanghlin J C Milam J O Whitlow A B Gallaher Ford McClung Auval Baker and Smith Baker
