GREATEST WINTER MEETING Prospects Brightest for Wonder ¬ ful Sport at the Fair Grounds Plenty Horses and of Good Quality Juvenile Eaceis Ready for forEarly Early Start NEW ORLEANS Ln Hewmber 13 While the Jefferson Park meeting is running there is plenty ttf activity at tin Fair Grounds in preparation for tliu meeting which opens at that course on January 1 Racing secretary Joe McLennau is already on the ground and he expects to have the condition lHK k for the first week of the meeting in the hands of the horsemen within a few clays With the number and highclass grade of horses that he will have to draw from for his daily programs secre ¬ tary McLennan expects to provide sport the like of which has not been seen at a winter race track ine racingWhile the good old days of California racing While no stakes have been made for the twoyear olds tlie youngsters will te well taken care of smd there will be plenty of races of good values for them There are a number of promising looking juveniles stabled at the Fair Grounds and they slioiH all be in goo racing condition by the first of the year Then will be nothing lacking in their schooling as Jim Osbnrn and Will Hamil ¬ ton assistants to starter A 1 Dade are on the jb daily giving them their lessons at the barrier None of the baby racers will be allowed to start until they are reported as being properly and thor ¬ oughly schooled and no blinkers or spurs will be allowed to be used on them themThe The Business Mens Racing Association will look fl r the jockeys more than ever During the racing ixriod there will be an emergency hospital main ¬ tained on the grounds with a trained nurse and competent pljywicians in charge All reasonable Sicapital bills for jockeys will be paid by the asso ¬ ciation mid they will get the best of treatment A fee of 10 will becTlflrged for a jockeys license licenseThe The management has announced that the Fair Grounds track will be open for training operations for licensed trainers mitil April 1 There will be ro charge for stall room water or other expenses incident to the racing A charge of 5 however will by made for trainers licenses licensesHorsemen Horsemen have also IMHMI notified that the track veterinary will be in attendance in the paddock each racing day and they will be welcome to consult him if a horse appears to be ailing Trainers are cautioned to see that their horses are fit and prop ¬ erly guarded before races Careful attention must be given to the plating of horses so as to conform to track conditions conditionsFIFTEEN FIFTEEN IN A G BLAKELYS STEING STEINGA A G Hhikely has a string of fifteen horses here I this year nine of them belonging to F H Cross and Mrs Cross Included in the Crosj string are four coming tuoyearolds two of them imported young ¬ sters The other horses under Blakelys care are the property of H E Springer W J Riley K H McC Potter Mrs A G Blakely and J A Kyle Thus far few of the horses in the Blakely string have been seen in action but they will be in the Ixst of condition for the Fair Grounds meeting meetingTrainer Trainer Charley Casey has twelve horses here for J II Rosseter wealthy California Included in the stable are three yearlings which will be seen in action at the Fair Grounds Casey has jockeys Alliert Johnson ami H Hamilton under his wing and bath are riding in excellent form here He ex ¬ pects some nioro young horses from the Rosscter farm in California to take cast at the conclusion of the winter racing season seasonJohn John W Schorr has only four horses here tin smallest stable he has campaigned in years They were brought down from Louisville ton days ago by trainer Louie Taubor and Schorr came from his home in Memphis last week The present year found the Memphis turfman only with scant repre ¬ sentation on the turf as he allowed his stable to dwindle down to almost nothing after disposing of Cudgel to Coinminrter J K L Koss for 30000 30000George George Chancellor has alx ut got Emden ready for winter racing after carrying him since last winter at the Fair Grounds Kmdcn was a really highclass sprinter here hist yiiir but he went amiss before going north and could not be gotten into condition try as his owner might When in his best form Emden makes all of the iood sprinters hustle to beat him
