CLOSE FINISHES AT ORIENTAL PARK Drying-Out Track Reflected in Yesterdays Racing Trainer Bondy Is Disciplined. HAVANA, Cuba, December 31. Todays races at Oriental Park were run over a drying-out track. The going improved steadily and tomorrows footing should be fairly good. Todays program was made up of a series of selling races at sprinting distances and clos. finishes came witli a majority of the races. Iron Hoy beat Venitian Boy a scant length in the opener, while Dixie Highway, after a hard drive, beat Flying Dart a half length in the second race and Whispering Hope had a margin of a head over Driffield in the third. In the fifth Pierrot beat El llundi a length after the pair had furnished an interesting duel throughout the homestretch. II. E. Leigh disposed of Driffield at private sale to Sirs. A. C. Niehaus and High Olympus to Stuart Polk. As a result of the inconsistent racing of Enver Bey, H. Ho jjfcjuis been relieved as trainer of the horses racing? inhe name of the Columbia Stable and the El l-loro Stable and II. W. Buyer, while Richard Stich,ncy succeeds him. The Grader, favorite in the fourth race, appeared to disadvantage in the heavy going and qui badly, while Peaceful Star, the extreme outsider, led all the way by a safe margin. Egmont found no opposition worthy of the name in the closing race and, after racing into a big lead early, easily maintained it to the cud.
