Daddys Choice, carrying tho colors of J. Marrone. won todays feature at Oriental lark. beating Sir Welkins by a length. Tlie race was tlie Haiti Handicap at a mile and fifty yards, with SSOO added to tlie purse by tlie association. Sir Wellons set tlie pace until t!ie last eighth, where Daddys Choice passed him. winning witli a hit to spare. Jockey White, who had the mount on Flittergold in the same raee, was suspended for ten days for rough riding. Daddys Choice was well supported, and his victory was immensely popular. r.eautiful, summerlike weather brought out another hi;; crowd today, and while tlie racing was not as thrilling as yesterday, nevertheless it sparkled in several instances. The track was in prime condition and fast time was recorded in nearly every race. Aside frrm the feature tlie third race proved t ie most interesting. Less than a half length f parated the first three horses at the finish, Bet-tertcn. at n good price, getting the verdict by a y.vtli. witli Nib in second place, but a head in advance of Perigourdine. It was a grand finish and aroused the enthusiasm of tlie crowd to a high pitch. Iloscoe Goose gave a flash of his old time sji-ed by setting tlie pace to the last eighth before quitting. The Keiituckians were hard hit when Carrie Morre was given a sound trouncing in the fourth race. She raced into the lead on the far turn and 1 ,oked all over tlie winner, but failed badly in tiie stretcli. Tho Dlue Duke, Littleeote and Lucky Lad finishing ahead of her in tlie order named. Another upset, came in tlie closing dash when Austral was beaten by a head by Burlingame. With luore energetic riding in the early stages Austral might have won, as after being outrun for a mile 1k closed up resolutely and just failed to overhaul the winner. Maxims Choice was also substantially backed in this race but quit. Nib and Tlie Duke changed hands after running in tlie third race. The former was claimed by .7. T. Strite, while Narvaez Brothers took The Duke. George Dehler and William Dass, two well-known patrons of racing in Kentucky, arrived from Louis-" ville this inoniing for an extended stay. Col. De Estramiies has purchased from the W. V. Martin estate the plater Frank Keogh and has tnrntd the horse over to trainer .1. Hoie. K. W. Itaxter, former trainer for Senor A. II. Diaz, purchased Colors and two two-year-olds from his former employer. The body of James It. .Teffery, who died here Monday night, was shipped today to his former home at Gloucester, Mass., for interment Saturday.
