TRAINER GALEN BROWN TO FRANCE American Horseman Leaving for La Morieye Ma comber Flans Are Extensive Galen Brown of Wilniotte Illr wellknown here and in Eur6tie as a trainer aridsolf of Cilpt Jim Brown who was killed in the famous battle with the police at Garfield Park in 1892 leaves for France next Saturday on the liner La Lorraine He goes to join his soniiilaw jockey Matt McGee at La Morieye district of Oise where he is getting ready for the French racing season soon to begin La Morieye is near Paris Mr Brown has no definite idea of his future location of work A hurry call was sent him and he answered it in a hurry It is quite likely that Brown may be asso ¬ ciated with trainer Duke of the great Vanderbilt es ¬ tablishment lie and Duke worked together in the old days when they were associated with the Mc CaffertyDuke racing confederacy Brown had a chance to go to Germany to train for Baron Oppen Iieim but did not care for the German angle The Oppenheim establishment has been rather unlucky for trainers It has lost its last five by death the last throe being wellknown Americans Hyland McCormick and McCreary McCrearyIn In his letter to Mr Brown jockey McGee wrote of the preparations of trainer Tom Murphy for the reception of Mr A K Macombers horses in France Murphys idea is that most of the best in Mr Macombers stable will go to him in France within the next thirty days and that Mr Macomber intends to race a large stable in France for the next three years The Macomber plans may be expanded into an extensive breeding establishment at a stud farm to ba bought in the district about Paris These plans are tentative and will depend on the events of the racing season to come and the success of the Macomber horses during it itIt It was also stated in the McGee letter that Mr W K Vanderbilt is m a serious condition and that there were grave doubts about him
