MUD RUNNERS HOLD SWAY AT HAVANA Heavy Shovers Make the Going Sloppy Resulting in Many Withdrawals J J Holtman Patrol Judge JudgeHAVANA HAVANA Cuba March 27 Mud runners held sway at Oriental Park this afternoon Heavy showers fell during the morning and made the going sloppy The change in track conditions was re ¬ sponsible for numerous withdrawals but the sun came out before noon and a full quota of regulars turned out to witness the sport The program was made up of a series of selling races and ordinary horses made up the fields A majority of the win ¬ ners had long leads at the finish La Kross won this opening clash by three lengths and in the second Vignola bad ten lengths to spare Lola won the fourth by eight lengths Bellringer beat Miss Sweep by a neck in the third Thurber had the winner under restraint and could have made the margin greater had he desired El Plaudit beat the favorite Dalrose by 1 length in a driving finish in the fifth and Kingfisher scored an easy victory in the closing race raceM M Jordan owner of Dalrose and other platers racing here received a cablegram informing him of VirginiaCharles the death of his father in Virginia Charles Henry has arranged to take the two apprentices Fator ami Wida from here to Havre de Grace where they will make engagements during the Maryland meetings meetingsJ J 1 Holtman has decided to start no more horses here as he has accepted a position as patrol judge for meetingSeveral the remainder of the meeting Several horses changed hands at private salu during the morning J F Burdette secured the threeyearold Iron Boy from J J TImmerman and F Keinlmrdt the niare Louise Mack from J J Holtman
