BELGIAN BIG RACE IS OPEN LONDON Kngland May 3 The first bis event of the Relgian racing season is the Grand Prix dOstonde for which entries are to close May 0 Considering what this gallant little country has suffered at the hands of the enemy it is not sur ¬ prising to find that the following regulation is to be enforced viz vizHorses Horses foaled wince January 1 1914 in Germany Austria Hungary Rnlgaria or Turkey as well as horses being the full or partly the property of persons belonging to the above nationalities are excluded from Relgian races racesMany Many turfmen were hoping that a similar regu ¬ lation would be imposed in connection with Knglish and French racing but so far nothing in the di ¬ rection has occurred here while the two great Auteuil events the Grand Steeplechase de Paris and the Autueil Grand Hurdle race are open to horses of every country countryThe The Grand Prix dOstende is worth 100000 francs SiJOOOO added to a sweepstake of 200 each The distance is OIK mile and six and onehalf fur ¬ longs and as so many Knglish owners were in the habit of patronizing the event in prewar times it is likely they will do so again even though there are hardly enough horses to go round the mauy big races tit home
