NINE OAKS TO THE DUKE OF GRAFTON In the way of records the Oaks shows some striking repeats That an owner should win it on nine occasions is remarkable This was done by the Duke of Grafton with the following Pelisse 1804 Mprel 1808 Music 1813 Medora 1814 Minuet 1815 Pastille 1822 Zinc 1823 Turquoise 1828 and Oxygen 1831 Lord Grosvenor and Lord Egremont each had five winners winnersJ J B Joel has won the Oaks four times Our Lassie 1903 Glass Doll 1907 Jest 1913 and Princess Dorrie 1914 1914Lord Lord Falmouth also took the Oaks four times and the Duke of Portlands horses were successful in four races for the filly classic The Duke of Bed ¬ ford Lord Exeter and W Graham each had three winners and Sir F Standish Lord Chesterfield John Scott the Duke of Richmond Harry Hill and Count Lagrange two twoOf Of the jockeys Frank Bucklers record is easily first with nine winners and then comes F Butler with sir Sam Chifney the younger and John Day each rode five winners and Chifney senior Fitz patrick Fordham Tom Cannon Fred Archer and J Watts four W Scott and Templeman scored three times and those with two wins each comprise J Singleton C HIndley T Goodison Charlton Rick aby senior Bradford and M Cannon
