STATISTICS OF LATONIA RACING MOST SUCCESSFUL MEETING EVER HELD AT THE THEKENTQN KENTQN COUNTY COURSE STAKE AND ANDPURSE PURSE DISTRIBUTION 352869 The Latonia spring and summer meeting of 1919 held under the auspices of the Kentucky Jockey Club was according to all reports the most successful ever held at the Kcnton County course Opening on June 4 it continued for twentyeight days ending July 5 during which time 196 races were decided and the large sum of 352809 distributed in stakes and purses The daily average distribution amounted to 12002 The daily attendance and volume of speculation broke all previous records while on Satur ¬ days and holidays especially the Fourth of July the course proved entirely inadequate to accommodate the tremendous crowds The rich stakes and valuable overnight purses attracted all the best horses of the west with additions from the east and altogether the racing was interesting though the favorites fared poorly and the outsiders captured the lions share of the purses C M Garrison won only one race at the meeting but that was the Latonia Derby with Be Frank the net value of which amounted to 16160 placing that eastern turfman at the head of the list of win ¬ ning owners The Ogdcn Stable with 11328 and M Goldblart with 10850 liave every reason for being sa tlsf led with their campaign at Latonia Altogether 110 owners won over 1000 each and
