. • RECORD Of THE SALMON STABLE H0BEY BAKER THE STAR OF ITS BAND OF SEVEN TWO-YEAR-OLDS AND A COLT EXPECTED TO EARN DISTINCTION WHEN A THREE-YEAR-OLD Of the nine horses raced by W. J. Salmon in 1919 seven were two-year-olds, four of which gave a Stood account of themselves in ractag. Eddie BJckeahacher won the most money and is a distinctly useful colt, but the one that made the best impression was the black son of Celt called Hobey Baker. This 1 nit was backward and was not raced much, making his debut in a race for maidens of his age at Havre de Grace, September 111. over a heavy track. This he won with all ease by three lengths, defeating OWT-teen opponents. September Is he won a purs- at three-quarters in 1:1:!--, and defeated His Choice. Azurita. Baleo and Colonel Lit without a hit of trouble, winning under a pull. His last race yvas his best, although unsuccessful. This was in the slO.OOO Eastern Shore Stakes. September 20. at three-quarters. In this the Hying filly. Constan-y. gave him ten pounds and a nek heatiag in 1:12%, but behind him were smh proved good ones .is Hasten On. Iliil .[ones. Qrajrsstaa, Wildair. Cai niandali . Head Over Heels. Xeddam and Flying Welshman. This was a high class performance, especially since the two leaders finished live lengths in advance of their nearest pansier. There are good judges who think Hobey Maker will have a place among tin- heat three-year olds of 1920.
