Mad-rl -1 1 is Mm largest nominator for T li«- Futurity of 1928, having named 143 mares, which is almost doable that of any other nominator. While this is ,-i goodly list it does not compare with the one •eat in by" the late J. B. Hnggin in 190:i. when he nominated 397 mares for this historic rare. All ill* noted breeders of this country are represented. Following is the list of the prominent breeders who have made nominations: John B. Madden. 143: II. I*. Whitney, 78: A. !.. Haneock. 50: J. K. Widener 14. The remainder of the 1.205 nominations for the nm-i famous two-ycjir-old race decided in this country come from the smaller breeding establishments in the Tinted States and Canada. Frank ONeill, the famous American jockey, who has ! e.-n riding abroad far a number of years, and who came home to spend Christmas with his relatives, returned to France on the La France. Tuesday. DeConrcey Forbes, which occurred early in Decemlier at the home of his sister in Paris. France. Mr. lloCourcey Forbes, was well known in raring circles for many pears. Twelve years ago he raced the inure Pantouffle. among others. In the late eight -lea and nineties lie was adviser for the late Pierre Ijorillards stable and later on looked after many of the late J. R. Keenes racing affairs. It was lie that named nearly all the Keene horses, which were probably the best and mosi appropriately named of any stable in the country. Fred Rurlew has contracted to train the horses belonging to Mr. .1. II. Rossetrr. the California owner and breeder. He will begin his duties shortly by going to California to look over the lacing material on hand and bring those east which are desirable. It is hinted that Mr. Rosseter will extend his stable considerablv when opportunity offers. Mr. Thomas Monahan has named three of his yearlings Jap Minna. Tuanorea and Rancocas. The latter is by Iovetie. which was bred at the Rancocas Farm in New Jersey. Tuanorea is by Aeronaut, and the idea is gathered by reversing the name of the hire. Jap Minna is named after a well-known newspaper man. - •
