] I OUR FOREIGN -BRED RACE HORSES OVER A FIFTH OF THE NUMBER WHICH STARTED IN THE RACING OF THE UNITED STATES AND CUBA LAST YEAR WERE BRED IN ENGLAND, FRANCE AND IRELAND The important pai*t foreign-bred horses - I.nglish. French and Irish — are playing in our racing of the present time is forcibly presented by the fact that of the S.8S1 horses which started in this country last year 7S7 were from abroad. That a Banker of them raced to good effect is indicated by the fact that collectively they won the solid aggregate of StitSl ..12-1. In the long history of the sport in this country there never before was anything faintly approximating 1 1t is, wholesale infusion of foreign blood, and the ultimate addition of the fillies and BMies and ssaM of the male horses involved to our breeding resources must exert a profound influence net to be correctly estimated at present. At aetata! the majority of these foreigners are a welcome addition to our raciag resources, especially that it now appears our Canadian neighbors are to call on us for a part of ear horses in order to carry on their prospectively restored annual meetings. In installments Daily Racing Form will present its readers with a complete list of the foreign bred horses which took part in our racing in IMP., together with their records for the year. There are so many of them that followers of racing cannot always have in mind that various horses racing successfully arc F.uglish or French, as the case may be. To them and to others this first installment and those to follow will be of real interest and value, well worth preserving carefully for future reference. Horse. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st.
