work trainer Wallace expressed himself as well pleased with the colts condition and if nothing happens to him between now and May 8 he is certain to be in fine nmiitiiii for the Derby DerbySeveral Several other prominent Derby horses were out for gallops while upward of one hundred and fifty thoroughbreds were on the track at various times in the forenoon A large number were also out at Douglas Park and all that is needed is for tins pres ¬ ent springlike weather to keep up so that the racers can get their training regularly from now on onDamask Damask elicited favorable comment when his they appear to have gone through the cold months in fine style There are several twovearolds in this es ¬ tablishment which arc pretty highly fancied by their owner ownerApplications Applications for trainers and jockeys licenses are being received at Churchill Downs and are in turn forwarded to the Kentucky State Racing Com ¬ mission at Lexington Consistent with the policy to throw every safeguard possible around the racing in Kentucky in an effort to keep it on a high plane the commission will not issue any license until after they have been approved by the stewards of the Kentucky Jockey Club ClubPhil Phil T Chinn trainer for L Waterhury of Xcw York the noted polo player who owns Scnnings Park and several other highclass thoroughbreds has been spending a few days here on business Chinn did not race any horses last winter and he spent the cold season in Lexington It was reported that he was seeking the contract held by the Ogden Stable on jockey Clifford Robinson but the deal for it did not go through Robinson is exercising horses daily at Churchill Downs and is in good condition for the racing season
