WHITING TO BREED THOROUGHBREDS THOROUGHBREDSC C L Whiting of Uochester and Avon X Y is going to breed thoroughbreds at Ills AvonVal Farm in the Cenesee Valley and with this end i view has bought the stallions Half Kock alii Magneto and thirtyfive mares The AvonVal Farm is in the heart of the grazing district an the experiment will be watched with interest b breeders in general It is a district which has produced fine halfbred hunters for manv years Half Kock is by Hock Sand Half Sovereign by Hastings while Magneto is by Star Shoot Marie Frances by Sir Dixon Hoth arc horses of more than ordinary attractiveness They have size and bone also Mr Whiting lias for several years exhibited a string of hunters and jumpers at the horse shows and hn raced a few steeplechasers on The Jockey Club course He has determined to enter the flat racing field as well and will send ten twoyearolds and the jumpers Miss Orimar and Henley II to Toronto for the spring meeting of the Ontario Jockey Club
