A K MACOMBER YEARLINGS THRIVING SAX FKAXCISCO Cal May C W AV Meu d nhall a wellknown horseman hereabouts has accepted an offer to take charge of the band of cloicely bred brood mares owned by A K Macom bcr and tjuartered at Charles T Boots Kliuwood Stock Farm Santa Clara County Meadeiihall barf had wide experience in every department of the horse breeding business For many years he was superintendent of one of the largest stud establish ¬ ments at Pleasanton Almeda County The mares placed in MendenhalPs care were purchased in the last few years in both this country and abroad Thens are about forty head in the spacious pad oeks at the Boots farm farmHorsemen Horsemen who have visited the San Jose track recently are enthusiastic over the appearance of ter yearlings belonging to Mr Macomber Then are five colts and five fillies in the band and every one has grown and developed remarkably in tht last two mouths Five of tin babies are by Dodge three by Star Hawk one by Uncle anil one by Trap Rock It is planned by their owner to race the youngsters around Xew York next year The Uncle yearling a bay filly from tin Kentucky Oaks winner Siinbonnet has filled out rapidly since the spring rains have made the richest kind of feed in the fields in which the young horses scamper about to their hearts content Sunbonnet was among the mares shipped to France last fall
