BRILLIANT CROWD AT CONNAUGHT Members of Parliament and Other Noted Personages Witness Fine Racing OTTAWA Out June 19 The Connaught Park Jockey Club enjoyed its most successful day this afternoon when a record crowd turned out to wit ¬ ness the sport The assemblage was a brilliant one and was made up of the many gentlemen prominent in government circles Among those noted on the clubhouse lawn were Dr Tolmie minister of agri ¬ culture J A Calder minister of immigration lion A Meighan minister of the interior A E Fripp member of parliment Dr J L Chabot member of parliament representing Ottawa Dr M Clark member of parliament Hon J Lougheed leader of the senate Sir Arthur Currie Sir Edward Morrison Sir Henry Iturstall Sir Eugene Fiset Commissioner Perry head of the Canada Northwest mounted po ¬ lice and Senator JSelcourt JSelcourtAlmost Almost every prominent family in the capital of the Dominion was present in the clubhouse in closure closureSpirited Spirited racing was the order tin majority of this finishes finding the leaders fighting it out all through the homestretch and in several instances it was only in the last few strides that the winners got up to take the decision by the smallest of margins marginsEdward Edward F Whitneys twoyearold I5y Jiminv hung up a new track record for fiveeighths vhei she beat Irish Jig by a head in the second race The winner ran the fiveeighths in 101 fast time for this track trackC C Wright was an arrival from the States with his stable His horses have been racing at the hunt meetings in North and South Carolina CarolinaJoe Joe Ietz got in from Kentucky He has joined the stable of George Cornell for whom he will probably ride rideTin Tin following horses have been added to the schooling list St Paul ISeos Nest Assyrian Queen Mary Cowell Arthur Middleton Sara and Miss Honier HonierJockeys Jockeys II Stearns and H Ilanmer were sus ¬ pended by starter Milton for three days for dis ¬ obedience at the post postF F J Kelly who was making jockey Pierces engagements here left last night for New York where he wU take oyej IVa 3IurniJisfcliookj 1 L Itrannon and S MeNaught were among yes terdays arrivals They brought horses here from Toronto TorontoJockeys Jockeys E Heilman and J Mclntyre were granted permission to ride at King Edward Park and they left for Montreal last night 15oth lads are in good standing but the Canadian Kaeing Associa ¬ tions had not as yet passed on their applications for licenses licensesSeveral Several horses changed hands through the claim ¬ ing route at Jtlue Honncts n the closing day of the meeting Among them Sentimental which was taken by W E Jones Helen Atkin by A Harri ¬ son Harry M Stevens by K Allen and Juanita III by D Womeldorff WomeldorffJ J F Smythe purchased of Commander J K L Koss the Canadianbred twoyearold Cornay He was shipped to King Edward Park ParkJockey Jockey Joe Kodrisucz left for Hamilton last night where he will remain until the opening of that meeting There is a shortage of good riders up here this summer and Kodriguezs services were much in demand The lad also has a large follow ¬ ing and the hope has been expressed that the Kentucky officials may modify their ruling so that he can ride at Hamilton HamiltonFrank Frank Farrar has purchased at private sale of J Liinisden the steeplechaser Kingstown Pier PierAlbert Albert Kohrbacks Liberty Light will be sent from here to Saratoga and rested up for a couple of months The horse was taken sick en route from New York to Montreal and had to be un ¬ loaded at Albany James Healy has decided to send llu steeplechaser Clootz to Saratoga in the same car as Liberty Light
