June A more interesting finish than that which mine in the Clipsetta Stakes was probably never witnessed on any track The seven starters contesting for the flt0 net that went to the winner were less than a length apart E K Uradlcys ISelieve Idle Hour defeated Miss Muffins by a head the same margin separating tlie latter from Aphie Dear with heads and noses intervening between the others At one stage of tlie race Miss Muffins appeared an easy winner for site had a clear lead of five lengths and was seem ¬ ingly going easily but in the last sixteenth she tired unexpectedly and steadily but surely the oth ¬ ers closed in on her Uelieve Idle Hour succeeding in the last stride to pass her Some time was exhausted at the start where Itelieve Idle Hour began showing characteristic traits of her mother Loveriiot She pivoted and lunged continuously but when tin start was effected it found lier fitlly in her stride and away fast Miss Muffins from an outer position dwelt a bit but at once settled in her stride She raced by Relieve Idle Hour like a flash and reached the streteli five lengths to the good Lyke however iwrsevcred with the JJradlcy filly and found her responsive to his hard riding culminating in her victory AphUy Dear rartTT following far back until straightened5 out in the stretch came with a terrific rush and was going fastest at the end At a longer distance she would have won Jacobina representing J K L Koss had no mishaps and was outrun all the way wayTin Tin Camden pair JSettina and Helium ran well and Jossip Avenue only gave way in the Jast eighth eighthAn An attendance almost rivaling that of Derby day took advantage of the fine weather and good racing Offering of this afternoon and crowded the pic ¬ turesque course The volume of speculation was in
