DISQUALIFICATION AT CONNAUGHT CONNAUGHTWar War Tank Set Back After Interfering With Chief Sponsor in Race for CanadianBreds OTTAWA Ontario June 23 Clearing skies brought to the Connaught Park course this after neon a crowd close in volume to that recordbreak ¬ ing gathering of last Saturday and some excellent rucing developed from a card that was featureless so far as the apportionment of purse money was concerned Light sliowers of rain fell before the first and during the second race but after that the clouds blew away awayOf Of most interest locally was the Parliament Purse for twoyearold Canadianbreds at four and a half furlongs which opened the program Disqualification of the Seagram Stable War Tank resulted in the victory of Chief Sponsor from the II Giddiugs stable and the action of the judges met with almost universal favor since the Gid dings color bearer had beeri backed into oddson favoritism Chief Sponsor raced to the front from the start with War Tank closest in pusuit After the field had straightened out and was a little more than an eighth from home War Tank drew into a head lead over Chief Sponsor and when shaken up humped Chief Sponsor into the fence The Giddings gelding came on again to receive the same dose a second time when the whip was applied to War Tank by jockey Kichcreek Wai Tank finished gamely but showed the effects of his rough treatment and War Tank drew away in the last few strides Jockey Itomahelli lodged a claim of foul against Richcreek The latter admitted that he had interfered with Romaiiellis mount but absolved himself of all blame in the luatter by stating that his mount swerved when whipped whippedThe The apprentice allowance was waived on Cora W in the seventh race and on Lrughing Eyes II in the fifth fifthSeven Seven cars of horses will be shipped from here tonight to Hamilton The train will carry most of the better grade of thoroughbreds which have been campaigning here Included in the con ¬ signment will be the horses that belong to J H McGovern and race under the name of the Maryland Stable Margaret E a twoyearold formerly the property of O Terrell has been added to the string stringSome Some of the owners having horses will ship direct to Windsor for the Devonshire meeting which opens the first week in July Among these are G R Allen W Walker G C Milton C Bush and L A Seregui SereguiStill Still another portion of the owners will jump to Fort Erie for a rest preparatory to the racing there M Seifert and Dan Lehan will go direct to Fort Erie The horses of E F Whitney in care of F Devers were dispatched to that point last night nightG G K Allen who holds the apprentice contract on his nephew G Ycargin announced that he has been asked to set a price on the diminutive riders papers by G W Forman Ijirry Waterbury also is reported to be interested in the purchase of the boys contract Yeargin is one of the thirty leading riders and although a mere mite handles big horses well wellJ J II Campbell who has served here in the ca ¬ pacity of placing judge will depart after the meet ¬ ing for Fort Erie where he will act as racing sec ¬ retary He will spend a few days in Cincinnati before the opening at Fort Erie D lliggius is au arrival from Montreal
