H P WHITNEY NOW LEADING OWNER i For a time early in the spring it appeared as if the powerful racing establishment of Com ¬ mander J K L Ross would sweep everything before it as it did in 1JIS and 119 but now a turn in tin tide lias come and the outlook for 1 the Montreal turfman finishing at the top of the list of American winning owners for the third year in succession is not so bright In fact at the present time Harry Payne Whitney has sup ¬ planted the Commander as the leading owner to date the Whitney total amounting to J7 540 while the Ross figures stand at 97078 However there is a grand array of rich stakes to be run at Saratoga and at the fall meetings in New York Maryland and Kentucky before the leadership of the year will be decided
